Precision casting

Precision casting is a technique that is very different from sand casting. The technique is used for casting steel and stainless steel, in particular :

  • When high precision is required and therefore machining can be (partly) omitted : drilling, turning, milling ,...
  • For medium to large series
  • When a better surface quality is desired.

It requires a metal mould for the production of the wax moulds (similar to injection moulding). The obtained pieces in wax are assembled on "trees", coated with ceramic layers, then emptied and baked out. The steel is then poured into these hollow "trees".
